Endermologie for Health

Endermologie can treat burns, and scars, as well as post-operative swelling, circulation problems, muscle tension and aches. Aesthetically, Endermologie, as a non-surgical, non-evasive treatment, is used as a toning therapy for cellulite and stubborn fatty areas as well as improving lymph drainage to clean the body of toxins.

It’s been around since the early 1980s when it was developed by Frenchman, Louis-Paul Guitay (LPG) and originally used for the treatment of burns. It was then unexpectedly seen to improve the appearance of cellulite and consequently became an aesthetic treatment firstly in France and then in the United States after FDA approval. The success of this revolutionary treatment has since taken it to more than 110 countries worldwide including the UK.

Treatments are performed by trained therapists with a hand-held massaging head that intermittently rolls over and sucks the affected areas and kneads soft tissue. It works by physically stretching and loosening the interconnected web of fibrous tissue under the skin that holds the connective tissue together.

By softening the bonds between these strands and by stimulating circulation, the process eradicates any unsightly dimples and fatty deposits. By generating a massive surge of oxygen and blood to affected areas, the treatment mimics the behaviour of the body’s healthy tissue thus increasing the lymphatic drainage of stagnant, toxic waste within the system.

This combination of gentle suction and deep reaching massage is a unique treatment. Furthermore, extensive medical research has conclusively revealed that in addition to arousing deep circulatory activity, Endermologie increases the level of collagen within the skin.

Collagen is the super protein that keeps the skin looking youthful. It is the combined action of these several key factors that ultimately results in a significantly tighter, smoothly contoured body. The body treatment, itself, takes no longer than 45 minutes and involves changing into a cotton body stocking that allows the Endermologie rollers to run smoothly without having to move over sticky creams or gels. Importantly, there is no discomfort and clients often describe the experience as relaxing, much like a deep body massage.

Following the session, it’s important to drink lots of water to flush out the toxins. Also, for the best effect, it’s good to stay away from alcohol and rich foods for the rest of the day. The results are apparent after the very first session. Treated areas are less compact, less voluminous and decongested. The skin is smoother and softer and the lymphatic system is well-drained. But at least six sessions are recommended for the best results and often those who have had them carry on indefinitely as it’s excellent for health in general.

Some Endermologie machines have an attachment that focuses on the face and neck. This procedure, known as the Endermolift, produces fast and surprising results: the face is re-shaped, refined, fuller, firmer and the skin quality is greatly improved even after one session - but quite spectacular over a number of treatments.
